Abrasive materials are the primary cutting components of grinding wheels, directly performing the grinding operation and playing a decisive role in the efficiency and quality of grinding processes. Commonly used abrasive materials include corundum (such as brown corundum and white corundum), silicon carbide (such as black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide), cubic boron nitride (CBN), and diamond.
Bonding agents: These are used to bind abrasive particles together, giving the grinding wheel a specific shape and strength. Common types of bonding agents include ceramic binders, resin binders, rubber binders, and metal binders.
Air pores: During the manufacturing of grinding wheels, a certain number and size of air pores are formed inside the wheel by adding pore-forming agents or employing special molding processes. These air pores serve to accommodate abrasive debris, dissipate heat, and provide cooling, thereby helping to improve grinding efficiency and extend the service life of the grinding wheel.
